HYPERHIDROSIS TREATMENT WITH BOTOX

Hyperhidrosis Treatment With Botox

Botox treats the symptoms of severe underarm sweating when topical medicines do not work well enough in people 18 years and older. It is not known whether Botox is safe or effective for severe sweating anywhere other than your armpits. Botox treatments temporarily block the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands resulting in reduced sweating.

Many Americans have severe primary axillary hyperhidrosis, commonly known as severe underarm sweating, a treatable medical condition.

Sweat is your body’s temperature regulator, but people with this condition have overactive sweat glands where the sweating significantly exceeds the body’s normal requirement for cooling.

Only a medical professional can diagnose severe underarm sweating that is not being effectively managed with clinical strength antiperspirants

Botox neurotoxin treatment helps control the symptoms of severe underarm sweating by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops. Botox injections are expected to temporarily stop the production of excessive sweat in the treated areas only. Sweat continues to be produced elsewhere.

Botox treatments temporarily block the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands resulting in reduced sweating.

Getting Treated for Hyperhidrosis:

During the procedure at the doctor's office, a small amount of Botox is injected into the affected underarm area through a very fine needle. About 15 injections are made to the underarm area. The actual procedure takes about 10 to 15 minutes and lasts up to 201 days or 6.7 months.

You should notice a significant reduction in underarm sweating within 4 weeks of your first treatment. If you do not see a significant reduction in sweating, you should contact your healthcare provider and request a follow-up consultation.

Where does the sweat go?

Your sweat doesn't go anywhere or get backed up because the sweat simply is not produced in the areas treated with Botox. Remember, the rest of your body is free to produce moisture normally

What is Hyperhidrosis?
